Arklow Town FC B Season 08-09 |
Mar 13 Goodnight, Charlie....
Friday the 13th proved to be an unlucky night tonight for Arklow Town's B team, as they somewhat disappointingly exited the Charlie Bishop Cup at the quarter final stage against St. Peters Bhoys B. In truth, the Bray side looked sharper and showed more desire to win the tie on a wet night. The Bray side served a warning midway through the first half with a move that cut open Town's defence, their number nine finishing with no little style but deemed to be offside by referee Crossadell who enjoyed an excellent game. Town rarely threatened in the opening half, creating very little in front of goal, but improved in the second half. However, the visitors always looked keener for the battle and with better first touches on a number of occasions might have put the game beyond Town with a number of counter attacks. Late in the game Town went close with a header just wide and a few snatched efforts from free kicks. However, it wasn't to be, with the Bray side advancing, led by a resolute backline tonight that was up for the contest.
