Tips - Help or Hindrance?
The following are nothing more than a suggestion, a flicker of a thought, for each and every question. Helpful or a hindrance? Only time will tell!
1. Who will win the Six Nations Rugby Championship? Can Brian O'Driscoll lead his Irish side to back-to-back Grand Slam successes or will we hand it to the French oncemore? Will Katherine Jenkins be singing in the valleys with a Welsh success?
2. How many winners will jockey Ruby Walsh ride at the Cheltenham National Hunt Festival? No one loves Cheltenham more than Ruby! Walsh rode a record breaking seven winners in the 2009 Festival.
3. Who will win the US Masters Golf Championship? Will Tiger Woods emerge from his hibernation to don the Green Jacket? Can Phil Mickelson become No. 1? Will we see an Irishman in Green?
4. Who will win the World Snooker Championship? Ronnie O'Sullivan is the People's Favourite but will his natural flair prove too strong for a host of steady experienced players such as John Higgins?
5. Who will win the FA Barclay's Premier League? Will John Terry score another success for Chelsea or can Alex Ferguson land a prized 19th record breaking League title? Can Arsenal end their absence from the winners enclosure or will someone emerge from the pack to surprise all?
6. Who will win the Europa League Final (formerly known as the UEFA Cup)? Liverpool's last chance of silverware this season having been dumped out of the Champions League. Merseyside rivals Everton have their own aspirations while the likes of Juventus, Valencia, Benfica and Galatasaray add weight to the quality of teams left in the competition. Last 32 draw here.
7. Who will win the FA Cup? Can Harry Redknapp land a second FA Cup success in three seasons, this time with Tottenham Hotspur? Holders Chelsea will no doubt have notions of retaining the famous old trophy.
8. Who will win the Heineken Cup? Will we see an Irish invasion in Paris to celebrate another Irish success or will the Paris faithful be celebrating a home victory?
9. Who will win the Champions League Final? English clubs have dominated the tournament in recent seasons but Barcelona still stand high above all, the Kings of Europe. Will that change this year?
10. Who will win the Championship play off final at Wembley? Always one of the most dramatic games of the season, last year saw major disappointment for Sheffield United with defeat at the hands of Burnley. Can they go one better this time around and reach the Premier League?
11. Who will win the Ladies Singles title at Wimbledon? Can anyone challenge the dominance of the Williams sisters?
12. Who will win the Mens Singles title at Wimbledon? Will this be Murray's year? Nadal to reign supreme or can Federer further cement his place in history?
13. Who will win the FIFA World Cup? Can the Italians hold on to their title won in such dramatic fashion four years ago? Will Spain finally realise that potential or will the Brazilians dance their way to a first ever success on the African continent? Will an African nation emerge victorious?
14. Which player will win the Golden Boot as top scorer in the FIFA World Cup? Can Wayne Rooney illuminate the World Cup with his goals or will former team mate Ronaldo shine brighter? Fernando Torres or David Villa to lead the way for Spain?
15. Who will win the British Open Golf Championship? Sergio Garcia has gone agonisingly close in recent times to lifting the Claret Jug. Will this be his year or will Pádraig Harrington rule the fairways oncemore?
16. Who will win the All Ireland Senior Hurling title? Will Henry Sheflin lead Kilkenny to yet another title or can the rising Tipperary team go one better than last season's agony in what was one of the all time great hurling finals?
17. Who will win the All Ireland Senior Football title? Do we look beyond the cuteness of Kerry or the youth of Cork with potential yet to be fully realised. Can the northern powers rise again to lift Sam Maguire?
18. Who will win the Ryder Cup? Quite simple - Europe or USA!
19. Who will win the League of Ireland Premier Division title? Will Bohemians reign supreme again or will their nearest rivals Shamrock Rovers return to the pinnacle?
20. Which driver will win the Formula 1 Grand Prix Championship? Will Button and Hamilton prove the best of team mates, or can Michael Schumacher return in fairytale fashion?

It's A Grand Old Game is a fundraising initiative to maintain the continuing progression of Arklow Town Football Club (Juniors), catering for now in excess of 500 children in our community. This February alone we are introducing four new teams into under eight WDSL football. As you can appreciate the costs involved with kitting out new teams is on-going and we hope with this fundraiser that all who play it enjoy the fun aspect it will no doubt bring over the course of the year. We thank you in advance for your support in this venture and we might suggest, in keeping with the fun element of the game, that you consider running mini leagues of your own, with friends and work colleagues, centred around the main game at play here.
